Bend in the Weather

We've been spending a few days now in Mildura and visiting the surrounding areas.

We headed off to Wentworth, to see the infamous gaol that housed Ned Kelly for a period of time.



We also went through Rio Vista House, that was built in 1890 by the Chaffey Brothers. Unfortunately due to the original furniture and paintings inside we were unable to take photos (for fear of damaging them).



Take our word, they were gorgeous and quite priceless!

All in all, we're having a fantastic time!
We just visited Orange World and took a trip on a paddle streamer today, but more on that tomorrow!

For now... time to get back and enjoy the little time we have left up here!

Well the first part of our holiday has concluded!

Pauline and I left Cohuna and Nana behind and are now in Mildura.

The weather has been stinking hot and we've sweltered in 45^oC weather for the past few days.

Today was better, probably around 30-35... with the weather all week expected to be around that.

It's getting late, and I've got a big day scheduled tomorrow so I won't write too much get, just to say here are some happy shots of Nana and Fiona (my cousin) and her hubby and kids!

We had a great time, and are looking forward to getting out and about in Mildura!

More when I have more time!

Pauline and I are heading away for about a week on a much needed holiday!

We are spending a few days with my grandmother in Cohuna, and then heading to Mildura in the new year.

As a result, I'm unlikely to post much over the period, as I'll be out and about in the sun and fun!

So I'll wish you all Happy New Year and see you on my return. I may post haphazardly during the period as I populate the site with some happy shots.

It's been a hot 35^oC here in Melbourne in recent days, so I'm expecting Mildura is likely to be low-mid 40's!
I may come back not looking 'like a ghost' as Anne so graciously put it!

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Remembrance Day (11 November) marks the anniversary of the armistice which ended the First World War (1914-18). Each year Australians observe one minute's silence at 11am on 11 November in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.

It was observed at work today (which is great to see) with a an announcement over the PA system just prior to the time. The reading of The Ode was undertaken and a minutes silence was then taken.

It's through their deed and ultimate sacrifices that we have the freedoms we enjoy today.

Let's hope the memory of those fallen is never lost, or the value of their sacrifice.
