I don't use the public transport (lucky few), but the rail network failure is just so bad.
Do they ever do maintain those tracks? Connex is lucky to be running a train network infrastructure in the southern hemisphere. I coudn't imagine it succeeding in running a network in one of the asian countries... where every day the temperature is in the range of 30~35 degrees
Jeffrey, the problem is that most of the railway lines are using timber sleepers. This means that the rails can buckle in the heat. If they used concrete sleepers, like on Perth's new Mandurah line, then the rails aren't able to move.
Unfortunately, there's no Victorian government program to resleeper all the rails.
Bannockburn has pretty dismal public transport too: three buses a day from Geelong to Bannockburn, according to the Metlink website.
Hardly world class, eh?
That's the point.
Why go anywhere when ya perfectly happy where you are.
wow timber sleepers? Thats so last century. Even the tracks in the rural village where I come from, in India have concrete sleepers.
