Pauline and I have spent all afternoon finding somewhere to take Jessie to be treated. She hasn't improved any
since the last update, and if anything... has gotten worse.
We visited two other surgeries and then ended up at Werribee Animal Hospital.
It looks like she may have something caught in her throat, thus why the awful gurgling sound and constant throwing up.
She's been sedated (due to the excessive burning of her throat), and placed on a drip... she's in overnight at this stage...
They will get her comfortable and then look at doing some X-Rays and full blood works. This is day 3, and she's coming down fast... she hasn't eaten or drunk in that time (and if she has it's come straight back up).
Her weight has dropped considerably... from 46kgs -> 41.8kgs... not good.
I'm expecting a call later tonight (by about 8-9pm) so hopefully I'll know some more then.
Pauline is dead exhausted.. she's been up with Jessie who's been throwing up about every 20 minutes since Thursday night. So she's taken a tablet and trying to get some sleep. I've had a little more than Pauline, but work tomorrow is going to be a big struggle. :-/
Hopefully we'll get some good news shortly. In any event.. .it's going to be an expensive weekend... it was upto $130 prior to today, and it looks like the hospital could be anywhere from $800-$2,000.
Though... what do you do? They are members of your family.
Pauline is pretty angry with our first Vet who saw her Friday/Saturday... as he seemed to fob her off and claim it wasn't a big thing. I must admit I was there yesterday and he wasn't thorough besides taking her temperature.
We will probably write a letter once the ordeal is over. In any instance, we will be changing Vets.
This Vet's diagnosis was
'she seems happy, so she can't be sick'.
How little he knows of Jess... she'd give you her last breath just to say hello or put a smile on your face.
The other 4 Vets we've seen since have recognised immediately that she's been in huge distress.
I've got little patience for incompetance; particularly not once but twice.
