A Linux based OS also severely limits choice of games, which is good in many ways for educational machines.
I wonder whether an increased uptake of Linux systems through OLPC et al. will actually lead to more game development.
Actually there is a range of educational software (including games) available for Linux and the OLPC in general.
Whilst traditional games may not have Linux ports there is some decent software available for Linux. It's a catch-22, currently game developers don't port to Linux due to lack of demand, users don't come to Linux due to lack of games. Take a look at : http://www.olpcnews.com/content/games/ which contains details of some games available for the OLPC, In addition a google search on OLPC Games (http://www.google.com/search?q=OLPC+games ) returns some 1,550,000 English pages. There is quite a bit of movement there.
i agree with you because i am doing a group project and this so helped me out... we were thinking the same thing! tankx
